Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program
Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is a federally funded program to help eligible low-income households meet their home heating needs. This program is divided into two components, Subsidy and Crisis. Subsidy provides a one-time payment for heating costs. The Crisis Component serves clients who will be without heat within four days or who have received disconnect notices for utilities. Payment amounts for both components are determined by family size, income, and type of heat used in the home. Payments are made directly to the vendors.
